Understanding Carnival’s Loyalty Program Changes and Updates for 2026

Big news for Carnival fans! Starting in June 2026, Carnival Cruise Line will introduce an all-new loyalty program called Carnival Rewards™, replacing the longtime VIFP (Very Important Fun Person) program. The updated system brings fresh ways to earn perks, spend rewards, and recognize loyal cruisers—making it one of the most comprehensive programs in the cruise industry.

Here’s what you need to know about the upcoming changes.

🎉 A New Name and a New Way to Earn

Carnival Rewards™ will introduce a dual-earning system that lets guests earn both:

  • Carnival Rewards Points, which can be redeemed toward onboard purchases, spa treatments, specialty dining, or even future cruises.

  • Status Qualifying Stars, which determine your tier level (Red, Gold, Platinum, or Diamond).

This means your loyalty will now reflect both how often you cruise and how much you spend—whether it’s your cruise fare, onboard dining, or shopping.

💳 Everyday Rewards Beyond the Ship

For the first time, guests can earn points through everyday purchases with the Carnival Rewards™ Mastercard, a co-branded credit card through Barclays. Cardmembers will be able to earn both points and stars faster, creating a bridge between travel and everyday spending—similar to popular airline and hotel loyalty programs.

🌟 What Happens to Current VIFP Members

If you’re already part of the VIFP Club, don’t worry—your current status carries over.

  • Diamond members will retain their level and receive lifetime Diamond status under the new program, valid through May 31, 2032.

  • Platinum members will keep their tier through May 31, 2028 and receive a 20% head start (10,000 stars) every two years to help maintain or upgrade their status.

  • All members below Platinum will have their earned level recognized as an entry point into the new program when it launches.

This ensures every loyal guest is rewarded for the time they’ve already spent sailing with Carnival.

🧭 More Flexibility and Transparency

Carnival Rewards™ will feature a redesigned tracking system that makes it easier to monitor your points, stars, and tier progress. Guests will be able to view their balances through the Carnival HUB App and online at CarnivalRewards.com, with detailed tools to help maximize benefits.

🧒 Family and International Guests

While guests under 18 can’t be formally enrolled in Carnival Rewards™ due to privacy laws, children will now inherit the same status as their responsible adult on each sailing. Once they turn 18, they’ll have the option to opt in and retain their earned tier. Carnival is also working on similar programs for Canadian and Australian guests, ensuring everyone can benefit from the new structure.

🌴 What This Means for You

The move from VIFP to Carnival Rewards™ represents more than a name change—it’s a shift toward a personalized, flexible rewards experience that recognizes both cruising frequency and overall engagement. Whether you cruise once a year or several times, there will be more ways to earn, spend, and enjoy the perks you’ve worked hard for.
